It has everything you want in a dark erotic romance: a broken, tortured alpha male, the woman brave enough to accept him and love him, flaws, intricacies, and all, and really, really HOT sex!! I was first introduced to Linnea May with Violent Delights, and let me tell you, I thought I was in love with Joseph, the hero from that book, but Ryan stole my heart in this one. Ryan is a self-made, wealthy man who only allows himself to indulge in the type of D/s sex that he craves, once a year, and never with the same woman twice. Laura is working as a waitress when they meet and the sparks/chemistry was there instantaneously. Laura had suffered her own fair share of heartache and though she's not a risk-taker, she agrees to Ryan's proposal of being owned by him for a night. Giving oneself completely over to another, trusting a stranger, I imagine is not an easy feat, but Laura senses something in Ryan, and she does. Ryan showed more care for her and her well-being than I expected from someone as tortured as he was. It just goes to show that underneath that brokenness, he still yearned for what most people do, their own HEA. I HIGHLY recommend this book and I hope you come to love Ryan as much as I did!

This is a dark romance about Laura and Ryan. Laura is 22 years old waitress who is trying to make enough money to move away.There is just too many dark memories here for her.Ryan is the CEO of the Onyx Corporation that is hosting the fundraiser that she is working. Something about her draws him to her so he proposition Laura. His proposition can be for one night, once a year, one woman total control. Only this year he's going against his rules to only use agency escort girls. Laura is drawn to him and the money can help her payoff her debts. She agrees but can she survive what he plans on doing to her? Will Ryan be able to give her up after 24 hours. This book is dark, intense, emotional, full of angst. Will either of them survive? Why does he need to do this once a year? This is a great book if you like dark,highly emotional ,BDSM romance stories. Highly recommend. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
This is the second of Linnea May's Dark Billionaire series that I've read. Although both books follow a similar pattern, as they're part of a series, the personalities and history of the main characters are sufficiently different to keep one fully interested in reading and enjoying the whole story.
Ryan, an extremely successful entrepreneur, believes himself to be a very broken and compulsive sex addict. In order to control his addiction, he only allows himself one 24 hour intensive BDSM interlude a year with a hired escort. He runs into Laura, a server at a banquet his company is hosting, and becomes obsessed with her. This interferes with his current search for his annual experience, as none of the women offered by the escort agency has piqued his interest like she does. He decides to independently make Laura the same proposal he makes to the escorts. Laura is a very cautious woman, who is working multiple jobs to pay off a substantial debt (incurred after she dropped out of college to care for her dying mother) and allow herself to make a new start. Although still a virgin, the offer made by Ryan would allow her to resolve her debt and begin her new life. The story details both their interlude and its aftermath, as neither Ryan nor Laura can forget one another, even though both proceed with their previously planned lives.
Ms. May is a very talented storyteller. She allows the reader to fully understand and appreciate the strengths and flaws of the characters in her novels. If the dark romance genre is one you enjoy, this book should be added to your "To Read" list.
I loved this book! It was hard to put it down, I stayed up all night reading!!! This book was freaking addictive, hot, deliciously wicked, hot and hell did I mention hot? This review will probably just end up a big fangirling mess on how much I loved the raw, dirty, explosive f***ing that went on in this book. Pardon my brashness. But yes. There was no love making. Well, maybe there was. But it didn't start out that way. Ryan Hawkins doesn't do love. He f***s, he gives into his dark cravings once a year. (Again. Sorry!!!) And he f***s hard. And good. And Laura can't get enough!! (Really who could blame her though One Indecent Proposal Turns Out To Be OH So Much More) Because I think I would've succumbed to the ways of Ryan myself. No shame. He is all alpha. Dominating. Powerful. Controlling. Possessive. And I know these have been done before. BUT! I just can't explain it. There's just something about him that just COMPLETELY did it for me!!! Cause when he says (“Yes, doll. I will f*** you until you don’t know your own name, and the fact that I’m the first one to ever do it won’t change my plans whatsoever,” he whispers, his piercing eyes blazing dark with lust. “You agreed to this. You wanted this. But don’t expect me to be gentle with you.”) Good lord!!!!! I don't think I've ever used the term "ovaries exploded" but yeah. That's pretty much what happened. He is very vulgar and blunt. And the dirty talkin. Ok. Now that I probably sound like a complete sex-crazed hornball.
Let's get to the story. Cause there's a really great story too!!! Double win!!!!
Ryan has a dark past and urges. He controls them by using an agency (Violent Delights) to send him a new woman each year to spend one night with him. He has rules set for himself and this annual retreat allows Ryan to explore his sexual dominant side without any major complications. That time of year is quickly approaching and this time Ryan wants to pick the leggy brunette beauty, Laura at his own Charity Event. He sees something special in her and has to have her. He doesn't expect Laura to unintentionally throw a wrench into his well laid plans.
Laura two years ago dropped out of college to take care of her dying mother. Now, she's waitressing to pay off her debts and to save enough money to move away for a fresh start with her best friend Layla. What Laura doesn't count on is meeting Ryan, and how the mysterious dominant billionaire is about to change her life.
